Preliminary Task – Camera Shots Story (#3)

This was our third blog of the year. Today, August 28, my group of three worked together for this project. Our photographer of this project is Veronica C and the two people in the shots are Maya I (me), and Jalen H.

This shot is an Long shot. It shows myself walking on the sidewalk, on a sunny day. This shot shows I'm relaxed.

This shot is a Point of View shot. It shows myself looking down noticing that my shoe isn't tied. This shot is to let the viewer know I don't know how to tie my shoe.

This is an over the shoulder shot. It shows myself looking over, seeing Jalen sitting in the grass, on his phone. This shot is to show my attention on Jalen.

This shot is a Two shot, showing Jalen and myself talking. I'm asking Jalen if he can tie my shoe for me. This shot is to show we're comfortable with each other.

This shot is a Close-up shot, showing Jalen tying my shoe. This shot continues the conversation, showing that he said "yes" to my question, doing me the favor of tying my shoe.

Something I learned about shot choice affecting the meaning of the shot is that different shots can mean different things with a simple choice of the wrong shot and lighting. What I will carry forward into my main project is to deliberate with my group to debate on the different shots that can affect our final product that may or may not give a different meaning to what we originally wanted the viewer(s) to feel and understand.
